Regional Leadership and Community Service

Many decisions affecting Winter Springs are made beyond City Hall. Transportation planning, infrastructure funding, economic development, environmental protection, and state legislation can all directly affect our residents, neighborhoods, and businesses.

Mayor McCann works to ensure that Winter Springs has a strong voice in these discussions. Through active service with regional and statewide organizations, he has built partnerships, advocated for local priorities, and helped connect Winter Springs with important information, resources, and opportunities.

He was recognized by the Florida League of Cities with its Home Rule Hero Award for defending local decision-making and the right of residents to help shape the future of their own community.

Regional and Community Leadership

• Serves as a Director At-Large on the Board of Directors of the Tri-County League of Cities

• Represents Winter Springs on MetroPlan Orlando’s Municipal Advisory Committee, providing the City with a voice in regional transportation planning

• Serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership Seminole, strengthening partnerships among local government, education, business, and nonprofit leaders

• Remains active with the Florida League of Mayors and serves on legislative policy committees through the Florida League of Cities

• Previously served on the Board of Directors of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce, supporting local businesses and regional economic development

• Advocates for home rule and works to ensure that decisions affecting Winter Springs remain as close as possible to the residents they serve. 

Mayor McCann’s commitment to community service began long before he became mayor. His previous service includes serving as Vice-Chair of the Winter Springs Planning and Zoning Board, as a member of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Advisory Committee, and as President of the Tuscawilla Homeowners Association. He has also supported organizations and causes advocating for children and veterans.
