Residents deserve an accessible, responsive, and transparent local government.

When Kevin McCann began serving as mayor, one of his central goals was to “lower the temperature of public discourse” in Winter Springs. He has worked to lead with a calm, measured approach, encourage respectful disagreement, and ensure that residents can participate in local government without unnecessary division or personal attacks.

Throughout his service as mayor, he has also worked to make it easier for residents to attend public meetings, receive timely and accurate information, and follow the decisions being made at City Hall.

Accomplishments

• Successfully advocated for moving City Commission meetings from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., making it easier for working residents and families to attend and participate

• Led the effort to establish a dedicated Communications Director position to provide residents with more accurate, timely, and consistent information

• Expanded public access to City Commission meetings by supporting live video coverage and archived recordings that residents can review on YouTube at any time

• Supported citizen advisory boards, committees, and other opportunities for residents to participate in local government

• Promoted civility, respectful disagreement, and a calm, constructive approach during public meetings and difficult debates.
